Diana McCarthy was born and raised in a small New England city along the banks of the Taunton River. She attended nursing school in Massachusetts where she worked for several years at the local hospital. After surviving the famous Blizzard of 1978, Diana and her husband decided it was time for a change. So they packed up and with their two sons headed south.

Now she calls North Carolina home. Diana has been a plastic and reconstructive surgical nurse for over 25 years and when she is not working she enjoys reading, writing and spending time with her family, especially her five terrific grandchildren.

Inspiration for The Big Old House and the Scary Storm came from her many childhood memories of the powerful and devastating storms she experienced growing up along the southeastern coast of New England.
